The Weekly Weird - 2017-01-13
- I'm not entirely sure what this actually is but it's several of my favorite things tossed into a blender: Nix + Rust + Cap'n Proto = Fractalide. I'm entirely not sure how to parse "Fractalide agents are Rust macros that compile to a shared library with a C ABI." but boy it sounds neat.
- In an extremely timely post, StackOverflow discusses their dual-provider dns setup. This is timely since I'm setting up exactly the same setup right now for this blog. Eerie.
- Tokio, the futures-based asynchronous processing library for rust, released version 0.1 with some very good docs.
- HP's The Machine uh, exists I guess.
- Just as I was complaining about 10ge being stupid expensive, CES makes me look dumb.
- The obvious and correct way to train an autonomous driving AI is to hook it up to GTA-V.
- Microsoft employees suing for PTSD. Obviously their customers don't get to sue, that would be unfair. (h/t you know who you are)
- This is bordering on politics and I'd like these two pieces to be longer and more data-ful but I still think they're worth looking at: The Real Reason Your City Has No Money and Part 2. Rarely, I can recommend reading the comments. Notably, this vague but frustrating story of trying to rennovate in the rust belt. The tie in with recent electoral events is left as an exercise for the reader.
