The Weekly Weird - 2017-03-03
- The word of the day is Kugelblitz. H/t PBS Space Time on Youtube.
- A long, intricate examination of designing a very fast hashmap in rust.
- PumpkinDB is an "event sourcing database that doesn't overwrite data" and uses a Forth-like DSL to ..um... do things? If you're not sure what that means, maybe try the comments at /r/rust or HN. If you still aren't sure, welcome to the club. Their commit messages are great though, I love the phrasing of them as problem/solution.
- Jobs that won't exist: loan officers
- Don't attach your teddy bear to the internet. Don't buy a teddy bear that's attached to the internet. Just let your bears be bears. And for sure, don't buy anything from these idiots.
- I love that a private Catholic high school in Mountain View made a ~2,733% return on Snap's IPO. I'm sort of imagining a rivalry with the scrappy underdogs across the street who invested in GRPN escalating into an 80s teen flick.
- SpaceX is gonna launch a couple of billionaires around the moon. Neat I guess.
- Why...why did you taste the cartridge?
