The Weekly Weird - 2022-10-14
- Lever: Check. Fulcrum: Check. Archimedes, eat your heart out. Video summaries from Scott and Becky if you prefer to watch your science.
- What am I, a mind reader? Some commentary by the author in this twitter thread. Hook it up to this terrifying dystopian headline and see if it minds that it can't scream.

- The x86 boot process is ... really something. The initial boot code is some of the most security sensitive there is and it's universally provided as opaque blobs you just need to trust. - Not enough of our infrastructure today is built with "survive WWIII mode". Surely we will not regret this in any way.
- I don't know who is relying on physical remoteness for wifi security but don't.

- With whom, exactly, will this be cooperating?
- This website will update the firmware on a Dell. Deep down, you already know the password.
- Who had "AI vs humans arms race in matrix multiplication" on their bingo card?
- What if ZFS were smaller?
- This WASM thing has gone too far, it needs to be stopped.
